Flexiform has completed the installation for The Glass Box, an exciting new Business Centre for Business Kirklees. Designed for new start-ups to boost local growth, the new agile office design has flexible desk spaces, co-working areas, individual offices/ studios to rent, meeting spaces, and individual secure mailboxes. Flexiform was delighted to be involved in this local office transformation, with our in-house design and space planning team helping to plan and design the modern workspace.
Flexible Office Space
Flexibility and agile working were at the heart of this design, with a need for pockets of informal meeting spaces, solo working and team discussions within one co-working space. The room was divided by fixed partitioning to help create privacy and block travelling sound, with office furniture grouped to create 3 work zones: relaxed & private working, meet & chat, and work & focus.
Within the relaxed and private working area, we installed high-sided solo work booths with laptop tables, making them adjustable and future-proof with the addition of castors. The high sides help to block visual distractions and create a striking modern design. The space was completed with high-back Valido lounge chairs and coffee tables located near plug sockets, allowing for a comfortable working space with laptops and tablets.
Agile Work Spaces
The co-working meeting and chat workspace was designed with low-back wide sofas and our Valido lounge tables with Additions 2 coffee tables. These were ideal for relaxing back with a coffee, meeting up with a colleague or client in an informal setting, or as an extension of the relaxed quiet working with laptops.
Within the work and focus zone of the co-working space, a bespoke Channel Work Table and Tonez chairs were added in the centre for up to 8 users, ideal for presenting ideas and projects or simply as a casual meeting. Pico side-to-side desks were installed around the perimeter of the room for research and to provide a fixed ergonomic desk space with easily adjustable monitor arms and mesh back desk chairs, ideal for users who want to stay for a longer period of time. The multi-functional workspace is designed to accommodate up to 25 people and allows the users to be flexible, adjusting the purpose depending upon how busy it is, or what their requirements are.
Contemporary Colour Pallet
As part of Business Kirklees’ aim to attract new and young talent, the workspace was finished in a contemporary and modern style with exposed concrete walls and industrial feature accents, complemented by a mixture of grey woods and laminate, flooring and walls, with natural ply edging and industrial oversized castors on the mobile booths. The contract furniture also featured blue and punchy yellow fabric, with tauben blue steel accents on the tables and desking. Our in-house team worked with Business Kirklees to develop the design, creating renders to help them visualise the space and colour choices prior to ordering. Flexiform is proud to be a part of an amazing contemporary workspace and facility for Huddersfield.
